The story did not end there! Paul later wrote two letters to the Thessalonians, preserved in the New Testament as **1 and 2 Thessalonians**, offering encouragement, instruction and hope to the growing church.

🐠💛 DID YOU KNOW? THIS LITTLE FISH IS A LIVING BOX… WITH A SECRET WEAPON!

Meet the Yellow Boxfish (Ostracion cubicus), one of the ocean's most unusual-looking residents. With its bright yellow body, distinctive black spots and unmistakably box-shaped appearance, this little reef dweller looks like it swam straight out of an underwater cartoon! 🌊🐠

But there's MUCH more to this fish than meets the eye…

📦 WHY IS IT CALLED A BOXFISH?

Its body is enclosed in a rigid armour-like shell made from bony plates, giving it that extraordinary box-shaped appearance. Unlike most fish, its body isn't built for bending and twisting.

And yet, it can manoeuvre surprisingly well using its fins independently, allowing it to move forward, backwards, turn and even hover in place. Its unusual swimming style has been described as a "gondolier" style! 🚣‍♂️🐟

🌎 WHERE CAN YOU FIND IT?

The Yellow Boxfish is found across the Indo-Pacific, from areas around the Red Sea and East Africa across to the Pacific, including places such as Japan, the Philippines, Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia and Hawaii. 🌴🌊

It prefers coral reefs, rocky reefs, lagoons and sheltered coastal waters, generally in relatively shallow depths. Young boxfish can often hide among coral and narrow crevices, while adults may venture onto deeper reef slopes.

🍽️ WHAT'S ON THE MENU?

Despite its cute appearance, the Yellow Boxfish has quite an adventurous menu!

It feeds on algae, microorganisms and small creatures living around the reef, including:

🦐 Crustaceans
🐚 Molluscs
🪱 Polychaete worms
🧽 Sponges
🐟 Small fish
🌿 Algae

It searches the seabed and reef surfaces for these tasty morsels.

😲 ITS MOST INCREDIBLE SECRET…

Here's where things get seriously interesting.

When stressed or threatened, the Yellow Boxfish can release a toxic substance in its mucus as a defence mechanism. This toxin can be deadly to other fish, making its bright appearance more than just a fashion statement. ⚠️🐠

In other words: don't judge this fish by its adorable face!

Importantly, the species is not considered a threat to humans. FishBase lists it as harmless to people.

💛 ITS COLOUR CHANGES AS IT GROWS

Young Yellow Boxfish are particularly striking, with a bright yellow body covered in black spots.

As they mature, however, their appearance changes. The spots become proportionally smaller and the colour can become more muted, with large adults sometimes developing bluish or yellow-brown tones. 🎨🐟

🐠 SOLITARY… BUT NOT ALWAYS!

Adults are generally solitary, quietly exploring their reef surroundings.

During breeding, however, they can form harems consisting of one male and several females with reports of groups containing one male and 2–4 females. 🐠💕

👀 HOW DO THEY INTERACT WITH HUMANS?

Yellow Boxfish are naturally shy and curious. Divers and snorkellers may encounter them around coral reefs, but they are wild animals and should be admired without touching or chasing them.

Their defensive toxin is intended for survival, not for attacking people. The best interaction is therefore the simplest one: observe, photograph and give this little reef character plenty of space. 🤿📸🌊

Stones of Faith: Beneath Hagia Sophia’s Great Dome
